Specialised Grippers for Door Handling
Automotive doors are large, awkward to balance and sensitive to surface damage. Sharp edges and varying geometries make handling even more challenging. Fine Handling has delivered 100+ door handling solutions for automotive assembly lines. One such solution uses a single manipulator to handle three door variants on a moving line with secure gripping, controlled movement and accurate positioning throughout the fitment process.

Solution and Benefits
To handle all three variant of the doors a specialised vacuum based gripper was used . Heavy duty vacuum cups were used with air pressure 6 bar.
Since all 4 doors were to installed by same manipulator it had to cover large area, Manipulator was mounted on Rail system with X-Y movement.
As lifting and mounting angles were different, Gripper was mounted on pivot joint which would give tilt, rotation and front back angular movement to the door.
