Sunroof Placement With Better Control
Sunroof fitment is a sensitive operation in car, MUV and SUV assembly. The component is large and delicate. It includes glass, frame, seal, motor and sliding mechanism. During handling, even a small scratch, impact or wrong angle can lead to rejection, rework or leakage issues later.
The challenge is not only lifting the sunroof. It must be presented at the right height and angle. It must clear the body opening. It must be inserted smoothly. It must sit correctly on the mounting points without disturbing the seal or damaging the surrounding painted area.

Fine has also developed automated solutions using cobots for lifting and placement of sunroofs on cars. The cobot assists the operator by taking care of controlled lifting and positioning. The final placement can still be manually assisted where operator judgement is required.
