Bonnet and Hood Handling

Handling tractor hood, truck bonnet or engine cover

Bonnets, hoods and engine covers used in HCVs, tractors and earthmoving equipment are large, wide and surface-sensitive. They must align properly with hinges, latch points, engine bay structures and surrounding body panels. Fine Handling designs hood handling manipulators for safe lifting, balanced movement and precise placement.

Fine Handling’s manipulator and customised grippers helps maintain fit quality while protecting large painted or finished panels.

Hood Placement With Better Balance

  • Safe lifting of large hood panels
  • Stable support to avoid panel flexing
  • Smooth movement towards vehicle body
  • Alignment with hinge and latch points
  • Protection for painted surfaces and edges
  • Fine adjustment during fitment
  • Reduced rework due to misalignment
  • Operator-friendly handling of wide panels

Hoods and bonnets on trucks, tractors and construction equipment are difficult to handle because of their size and shape. Some panels are long, curved or unevenly balanced. Manual handling can cause scratches, poor alignment or operator fatigue.

Fine Handling designs the manipulator and customised gripper around the panel geometry, weight distribution and fitment process. The system supports the hood during lifting and placement so the operator can align it with the body frame, hinges and latch points.

This improves gap consistency, reduces rework and makes large-panel handling safer on heavy vehicle assembly lines.
